How should I claim tax deductions for medical expenses that are not covered by health insurance, including costs of over-the-counter medicines, or travel expenses?
Medical expenses that are not covered by the health insurance are not reflected in the Medical Expenses Notification. If you claim tax deductions for medical expenses that are not stated in the Medical Expenses Notification, you are required to attach to your tax return a Schedule of Medical Expenses Deduction prepared based on the relevant receipts. In this case, however, you are required to retain the corresponding receipts for such medical expenses for five years.
